. The end of Gender roles as we know it. Gender norms come from many different places and can be influenced by either sex. The mindset that men and women need to be a certain way hinder both parties. Julia Serano, transgendered women and trans and queer author and advocates article â€Å"why nice guys finish last† explains how gender binaries such as men can’t be the victim or women can’t be the aggressor or Women can’t be tough or masculine and a feminine man is undesirable and not a â€Å"man†. affect our way of life. These gender norms in society lead to unfair situations between genders and overall negatively affect how we are depicted in society. these issues can become eradicated by†¦show more content†¦when a male is violated by a female it doesn’t seem as if he was victimized because society normalizes men only being the predators so when they are truly being used as sexual objects ,society still sees them as that predator in stead of the prey and continue to see the women as a victim rather than an aggressor this is mentioned when serano states â€Å"this predator prey mindset essentially ensures men cannot be viewed as legitimate sexual objects nor can women be viewed as legitimate sexual aggressors† (Serano 416). We need to remove any prior qualifications ingrained in us on what it means to be the aggressor or sexual object and who is allowed to fit that description. The student’s innocence was violated in both scenarios, male or female and the teacher is a predator for using a child for their sexual desires. She is no less of a predator because she is female and he is no more of a predator because he is male this goes along with not encourage the abuse of men by women yet condemning the abuse of women by men.
